1507 – Abū Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, related that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “One of you will continue to have his supplication answered so long as he does not become hasty, saying: ‘I have prayed to my Lord but He has not answered me.’” Agreed upon.
In another narration reported by Muslim: “A servant’s request continues to be granted so long as he does not pray for something sinful or for the severing of kin-ties, provided he does not grow impatient.” It was asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what is meant by impatience?” He replied: “He says, ‘I have prayed and prayed yet I see no response,’ then he becomes weary (1) and abandons supplication.”
1508 – Abū Umāmah, may Allah be pleased with him, said: It was asked of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, “Which supplication is most readily heard?” He answered, “In the last portion of the night (2) and after the obligatory prayers.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhī, who said: it is a ḥasan hadith.
1509 – ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “There is no Muslim on earth who calls upon Allah with a petition but that Allah grants it, or averts from him an evil of equal measure—so long as he does not ask for something sinful or for the severing of kin-ties.” A man in the gathering said, “Then we shall ask abundantly (3)!” He replied, “Allah is even more abundant (4).” Narrated by al-Tirmidhī, who declared it ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ.
Al-Ḥākim also narrated it through Abū Saʿīd, adding: “or He stores up for him a like reward.”
1510 – Ibn ʿAbbās, may Allah be pleased with them both, reported that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was faced with distress he would say:
“There is no god but Allah, the Magnificent, the Forbearing.
There is no god but Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne.
There is no god but Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth, and Lord of the Noble Throne.”
Agreed upon.
