1368 – Al-Maʿrūr ibn Suwayd said: I saw Abū Dharr, may Allah be pleased with him, wearing a ḥullah (1) and his servant boy wearing one just like it. I asked him about it, and he told me that he had once insulted a man in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ by belittling the man through his mother. The Prophet ﷺ said, “You are a man in whom there remains something of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance (2). Your servants are your brothers whom Allah has placed under your authority. Do not burden them with what is beyond their strength; but if you must burden them, then help them.” Agreed upon.

1371 – Abū Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “For a righteous, dutiful slave there are two rewards.” Abū Hurayrah added, “By Him in whose hand is Abū Hurayrah’s soul, were it not for striving in the path of Allah, the pilgrimage, and showing kindness to my mother, I would have loved to die while I was still a slave.” Agreed upon.
1372 – Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī, may Allah be pleased with him, said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
