– Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “By Allah, I seek Allah’s forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day.” Reported by al-Bukhārī.
– Al-Agharr ibn Yasār al-Muzanī (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “O people, turn to Allah in repentance and seek His forgiveness, for indeed I repent to Him one hundred times each day.” Reported by Muslim.
– Abu Ḥamzah Anas ibn Mālik al-Anṣārī, the servant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ (may Allah be pleased with him), said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Allah is more joyous over the repentance of His servant than one of you who suddenly finds his camel after it had slipped away from him in an open desert land.”(1) Agreed upon.
In another version narrated by Muslim: “Allah is even more delighted with the repentance of His servant when he turns back to Him than one of you who was riding his mount in a waterless wilderness, and it escaped from him while his food and drink were on it. Despairing of it, he came to a tree and lay down in its shade, having lost all hope of recovering his mount. While he was in that state, lo and behold, the camel was standing right before him. He seized its rope,(2) and, overwhelmed with joy, exclaimed, ‘O Allah, You are my servant and I am Your Lord!’—a slip of the tongue caused by the intensity of his joy.”
– Abu Mūsā ʿAbdullāh ibn Qays al-Ashʿarī (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Allah, Exalted is He, stretches out His Hand during the night so that the sinner of the day may repent, and He stretches out His Hand during the day so that the sinner of the night may repent, until the sun rises from the place of its setting.”(3) Reported by Muslim.
– Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever repents before the sun rises from the place of its setting, Allah will accept his repentance.” Reported by Muslim.
