He was asking about Islam, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Five prayers in every day and night.” The man asked, “Am I obliged to do anything besides them?” He replied, “No, unless you choose to do something voluntarily.” Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “And fasting the month of Ramadan.” The man asked, “Am I obliged to do anything besides that?” He answered, “No, unless you choose to do something voluntarily.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also mentioned the zakah. The man asked, “Am I obliged to do anything besides it?” He said, “No, unless you choose to do something voluntarily.” The man turned away saying, “By Allah, I will add nothing to this and I will omit nothing from it.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “He will succeed if he is truthful.” Agreed upon.

If they obey you in that, then inform them that Allah has mandated a charity to be taken from their rich and returned to their poor.” Agreed upon.
