208 – Chapter: Encouragement to perform the two-rak‘ah salutation of the mosque and the discouragement of sitting down before praying two rak‘ahs, no matter when one enters—whether he offers them with the intention of greeting the mosque, an obligatory prayer, a regular sunnah, or any other prayer.
1151 – Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “When any one of you enters the mosque, let him not sit until he has prayed two rak‘ahs.” Agreed upon.
1152 – Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “I came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was in the mosque, and he said, ‘Pray two rak‘ahs.’” Agreed upon.
209 – Chapter: Recommendation of praying two rak‘ahs after ablution.
1153 – Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Bilal, “O Bilal, tell me about the deed (1) you perform in Islam for which you have the greatest hope, for I heard the sound of your sandals ahead of me in Paradise.” He replied, “I have never done a deed I cherish more than this: whenever I perform a complete purification at any hour of the night or day, I pray with that ablution whatever has been ordained for me to pray.” Agreed upon. This is al-Bukhari’s wording.
“Al-daf,” with a fā’, refers to the sound of a sandal and its movement on the ground. Allah knows best.
