Another narration adds that in the second rakʿah he would recite the verse found in Sūrah Âl ʿImrān: “Come to a word that is equitable between us and you” (3:64). Muslim narrated it.
1115 – Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited in the two Fajr rakʿahs: “Say, O disbelievers” (109) and “Say, He is Allah, the One” (112). Narrated by Muslim.
1116 – Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I kept an eye on the Prophet ﷺ for a whole month, and he would recite in the two rakʿahs before Fajr: “Say, O disbelievers” (109) and “Say, He is Allah, the One” (112). Reported by al-Tirmidhī, who graded it ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ.
198 – Chapter: The recommendation to recline on one’s right side after the two Fajr rakʿahs, whether or not one has prayed during the night
1117 – ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Whenever the Prophet ﷺ had prayed the two rakʿahs of Fajr, he would lie down on his right side. Reported by al-Bukhārī.
1118 – She also said: Between finishing the night prayer and daybreak the Prophet ﷺ used to perform eleven rakʿahs, giving salām after every two and ending with a single witr. When the muʾadhdhin had finished the adhan of Fajr, dawn was clearly visible, and the caller came to him, he would rise and pray two light rakʿahs, then lie on his right side, and remain so until the muʾadhdhin came to announce the iqāmah. Reported by Muslim.
Her statement “he would give salām between every two rakʿahs” appears in Muslim exactly as such, and it means: after each pair of rakʿahs.
1119 – Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When one of you has prayed …”
