al-Ḥusayn Muslim ibn al-Ḥajjāj ibn Muslim al-Qushayrī an-Naysābūrī—may Allah be pleased with them both—in their two books, which are the most authentic of all the compiled works.
– The Mother of the Believers, Umm ʿAbd Allāh ʿĀʾishah—may Allah be pleased with her—reported that the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said, “An army will set out against the Kaʿbah, and when they reach a desert plain called Baydāʾ (1) the first of them and the last of them will all be swallowed up by the earth.” She said, “O Messenger of Allah, how can the first and the last of them be swallowed up when among them are their traders (2) and people who are not of them?” He replied, “The first of them and the last of them will be swallowed up, then they will be resurrected in accordance with their intentions.” Agreed upon; this wording is that of al-Bukhārī.
– ʿĀʾishah—may Allah be pleased with her—also reported that the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said, “There is no migration after the Conquest, but there remains jihad and intention; so when you are called forth (3), then go forth.” Agreed upon. Its meaning is that there is no migration from Mecca, for it has become a land of Islam.
– Abū ʿAbd Allāh Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Anṣārī—may Allah be pleased with them both—said: We were with the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—on a campaign when he said, “There are men in Medina who, whenever you travel any distance or cross any valley, are with you; illness has kept them back.” In another narration he said, “They share with you in the reward.” Reported by Muslim.
– Al-Bukhārī likewise narrates from Anas—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: We returned from the expedition of Tabūk with the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and he said, “There are people we left behind in Medina; we did not pass through any mountain pass or valley except that they were with us—an excuse kept them back.”
– Abū Yazīd Maʿn ibn Yazīd ibn al-Akhnas—may Allah be pleased with them (he, his father, and his grandfather were all Companions)
