“Then how will it be when We bring from every nation a witness and bring you over these (1) as a witness?” He said, “That is enough for you now.” I turned toward him and saw that his eyes were streaming with tears. Agreed upon.
183 – Chapter: Encouragement to recite particular surahs and verses
1016 – Abū Saʿīd Rāfiʿ ibn al-Muʿallā (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, “Shall I not teach you the greatest surah in the Quran before you leave the mosque?” Then he took hold of my hand. When we were about to leave I said, “O Messenger of Allah, you said you would certainly teach me the greatest surah in the Quran.” He replied, “Al-ḥamdu lillāhi Rabb al-ʿālamīn (All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds); it is the Seven Oft-Repeated and the Magnificent Quran that I have been given.” Narrated by al-Bukhārī.
1017 – Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said concerning Qul Huwa Allāhu Aḥad, “By Him in whose hand is my soul, it is equal to one-third of the Quran.”
In another narration the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions, “Is any one of you unable to recite one-third of the Quran in a single night?” That weighed heavily on them and they said, “Who among us could manage that, O Messenger of Allah?” He answered, “Qul Huwa Allāhu Aḥad, Allāhu ’ṣ-Ṣamad – it is one-third of the Quran.” Narrated by al-Bukhārī.
1018 – And from him: A man heard another man reciting Qul Huwa Allāhu Aḥad again and again. When morning came he went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned it to him, while the reciter regarded it as insignificant (2). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “By Him in whose hand is my soul, it is indeed equal to one-third of the Quran.” Narrated by al-Bukhārī.
1019 – Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said about Qul Huwa Allāhu Aḥad, “It is equivalent to one-third of the Quran.” Narrated by Muslim.
