806 – Muʿādh ibn Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever forgoes fine clothing out of humility before Allah, even though he could afford it, Allah will call him on the Day of Resurrection before the whole of creation and allow him to choose whichever robes of faith he wishes to wear.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhī, who said: a good hadith.
121 – Chapter: Recommending moderation in dress
One should not confine oneself to clothing that brings disrepute without need or any legitimate religious purpose.
807 – ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb, from his father, from his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with them), reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Allah loves to see the effect of His blessing upon His servant.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhī, who said: a good hadith.
122 – Chapter: The prohibition on men wearing silk, sitting on it, or reclining against it, while permitting it for women
808 – ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Do not wear silk, for whoever wears it in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter.” Agreed upon.
809 – He also said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “Only those who have no share (of reward) wear silk.” Agreed upon.
In another wording recorded by al-Bukhārī: “Those who have no share in the Hereafter.”
