and when you perform ablution, begin with your right sides.” This is an authentic ḥadīth, related by Abū Dāwūd and al-Tirmidhī with a sound chain.
731 – Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that while at Minā the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to the Jamrah and threw the pebbles at it, then went to his lodging in Minā and slaughtered (his offering). He then said to the barber, “Take,” and pointed to the right side of his head, then the left, after which he started handing the (shorn hair) to the people. Agreed upon.
In another narration: When he had stoned the Jamrah, sacrificed his offering (1), and shaved, he offered the barber the right side of his head and it was shaved. He then called Abū Ṭalḥah al-Anṣārī (may Allah be pleased with him) and gave it to him; next he offered the left side, saying, “Shave,” and when it was shaved he gave it to Abū Ṭalḥah and said, “Distribute it among the people.”
