for he is communing with his Lord, and his Lord stands between him and the qiblah. Therefore none of you should spit toward the qiblah; he should spit to his left or beneath his foot.” He then took hold of the edge of his cloak, spat into it, folded part of it over, and said, “Or he may do it like this.” Agreed upon.

The instruction to spit to one’s left or beneath one’s foot applies when one is outside the mosque; inside the mosque he should spit only into his garment.

78 – Chapter: The obligation upon those in authority to be gentle with their subjects, to advise them sincerely, to show compassion for them, and the prohibition against deceiving them, being harsh with them, neglecting their interests, or being heedless of them and their needs.

Allah the Exalted says: “And lower your wing to those believers who follow you.” (26:215)
And He says: “Indeed, Allah commands justice, excellence, and giving to relatives, and He forbids obscenity, wrongdoing, and transgression; He admonishes you so that you may take heed.” (16:90)

658 – Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “Every one of you is a shepherd, and every one of you will be questioned about his flock. The ruler is a shepherd and will be questioned about his flock; a man is a shepherd over the members of his household and will be questioned about his flock; a woman is a shepherd over her husband’s household and will be questioned about her flock; and a servant is a shepherd over his master’s property and will be questioned about his flock. Thus every one of you is a shepherd and every one of you will be questioned about his flock.” Agreed upon.

659 – Abū Yaʿlā Maʿqil ibn Yasār (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “No servant whom Allah puts in charge of a flock and who dies while cheating his flock will ever smell the fragrance of Paradise.” Agreed upon.
