– Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: A Bedouin once urinated in the mosque. The people leapt up to chastise him, but the Prophet ﷺ said: “Leave him be and pour a bucket of water—one full bucket (sajl) or a large pail (dhanūb)—over his urine. You have been sent to make things easy, not to make them difficult.” Narrated by al-Bukhārī.
(The word sajl—with an open sīn and a quiescent jīm—means a bucket filled with water; dhanūb has the same meaning.)
– Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: “Make things easy and do not make them difficult; give glad tidings and do not drive people away.” Agreed upon.
– Jarrīr ibn ʿAbd Allāh (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “Whoever is denied gentleness is denied all good.” Narrated by Muslim.
– Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that a man said to the Prophet ﷺ, “Advise me.” He replied, “Do not become angry.” The man repeated his request several times, and each time he said, “Do not become angry.” Narrated by al-Bukhārī.
– Abū Yaʿlā Shaddād ibn Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Allah has prescribed excellence in everything. So when you kill, kill well (1), and when you slaughter, slaughter well. Let one of you sharpen his blade and spare the animal unnecessary suffering.” Narrated by Muslim.
– ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was never given a choice between two matters without choosing the easier of the two, provided it was not sinful; but if it was sinful, he was the farthest of people from it. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ never took revenge on his own behalf—except when one of Allah’s sanctities was violated, in which case he would seek redress for the sake of Allah the Exalted. Agreed upon.
