“Tallahū,” with the letter tā (not ṭāʾ), means “he placed it.” The boy mentioned was Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with them both).
575 – Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: “While Job عليه السلام was bathing unclothed, a swarm of golden locusts fell upon him. Job began gathering them into his garment, whereupon his Lord—Majestic and Exalted—called to him: ‘O Job, have I not made you rich enough to dispense with what you see?’ He replied, ‘Indeed, by Your might, but I can never do without Your blessing.’” (1) Narrated by al-Bukhārī.
64 – Chapter: The Merit of the Thankful Rich Person
This is the one who earns wealth through lawful means and spends it in the ways that have been commanded.
Allah the Exalted says: “As for the one who gives and is mindful of Allah, and affirms the best promise, We shall ease him toward ease.” (Al-Layl 92:5-7)
He also says: “But the truly God-fearing will be kept far from it—those who give their wealth to purify themselves, seeking nothing in return from anyone, but only the Face of their Lord Most High—and surely they will be satisfied.” (Al-Layl 92:17-21)
And He says: “If you make your charity public—how excellent it is! But if you conceal it and give it to the poor, that is better for you, and He will atone for some of your sins. Allah is fully aware of what you do.” (Al-Baqarah 2:271)
And He says: “You will never attain righteousness until you spend out of that which you love; and whatever you spend, Allah surely knows it.” (Āl ʿImrān 3:92)
The verses extolling the virtue of spending in acts of obedience are many and well-known.
