61 – Chapter: The Prohibition of Miserliness and Avarice
Allah the Exalted says: “But as for him who withholds and deems himself self-sufficient, (1) and denies the best reward, We shall ease him toward hardship; and his wealth will be of no benefit to him when he plummets.” (2) [Al-Layl 8-11]
He also says: “Whoever is protected from the avarice (3) of his own soul—it is they who will succeed.” [At-Taghābun 16]
A number of the prophetic traditions on this subject were cited in the previous chapter.
568 – Jābir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Beware of oppression, for oppression will be layers of darkness on the Day of Resurrection. 62 – Chapter: Altruism and Mutual Support
Allah the Exalted says: “They give others preference (5) over themselves even though they themselves are in need.” [Al-Hashr 9]
And He says: “They give food, in spite of their love for it, to the needy, the orphan, and the captive.” [Al-Insān 8]
569 – Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, “I am utterly exhausted (6).” So he sent word to one of his wives, and she replied, “By the One Who sent you with the truth, I have nothing except…”
