He returned with a sum of money from Bahrain. When the Anṣār heard of Abū ʿUbaydah’s arrival, they attended the dawn prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Once the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had concluded the prayer and turned to leave, they placed themselves in his path. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled when he saw them and said, “I take it you have heard that Abū ʿUbaydah has brought something from Bahrain?” They replied, “Indeed, O Messenger of Allah.” He said, “Rejoice and hope for what will gladden you. By Allah, it is not poverty that I fear for you; rather, I fear that the world will be spread out before you as it was spread out before those who came before you. You will then vie with one another for it as they vied for it, and it will destroy you just as it destroyed them.” Agreed upon.

466 – He further said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ declared, “On the Day of Resurrection the person who enjoyed the greatest comfort in the world among the inhabitants of Hell will be brought….”
