by Him in Whose hand is Muhammad’s soul, I truly hope that you will make up half of the people of Paradise. Paradise will admit no one except a Muslim soul, and, in relation to the idolaters, you are like a single white hair on the hide of a black bull, or a single black hair on the hide of a red bull.” Agreed upon.
437 – Abu Musa al-Ash‘ari, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When the Day of Resurrection comes, Allah will hand over to every Muslim a Jew or a Christian and will say, ‘This is your ransom from the Fire.’”
In another narration from him, from the Prophet ﷺ, he said: “On the Day of Resurrection some people from among the Muslims will arrive with sins as massive as mountains, yet Allah will forgive them.” Narrated by Muslim.
His words, “Allah will hand over to every Muslim a Jew or a Christian and will say, ‘This is your ransom from the Fire,’” have the same meaning as the hadith of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him: “For every person there is a place in Paradise and a place in Hell. When the believer enters Paradise, the unbeliever takes his place in the Fire, for he deserves it on account of his disbelief.” The expression “your ransom” means that you were liable to enter the Fire, and this is what releases you from it. Allah the Exalted has fixed for Hell a certain number that will fill it; when the unbelievers enter it because of their sins and disbelief, they in effect serve as a ransom for the Muslims. Allah knows best.
438 – Ibn ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “On the Day of Resurrection the believer will be brought near (1) to his Lord until He screens him with His mercy. He will then make him admit his sins, asking, ‘Do you acknowledge such-and-such a sin? Do you acknowledge such-and-such a sin?’ He replies, ‘My Lord, I do.’ He will say, ‘I concealed them for you in the world, and today I forgive you for them,’ and he will be handed the record of his good deeds.” Agreed upon.
Kanafahu: His covering and mercy.
