the sweetness of faith: that Allah and His Messenger are dearer to him than anything else; that he loves a person solely for the sake of Allah; and that he detests returning to disbelief after Allah has rescued him from it just as he would detest being cast into the Fire.” Agreed upon.
– Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: “Seven types of people will be shaded by Allah in His shade (1) on the Day when there is no shade except His: a just ruler; a youth who grows up in the worship of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic; a man whose heart is attached to the mosques (2); two men who love one another for Allah’s sake—meeting for that and parting upon it; a man whom a woman of status and beauty invites, yet he says, ‘I fear Allah’; a man who gives charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand spends; and a man who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes overflow with tears (3).” Agreed upon.
– He also narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Allah, Exalted is He, will say on the Day of Resurrection, ‘Where are those who loved one another for My Majesty (4)? Today I shall shade them in My shade, on a day when there is no shade except My shade.’” Related by Muslim.
– He further narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “By the One in whose hand is my soul, you will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I not direct you to something which, if you do it, you will love one another? Spread the greeting of peace among yourselves.” Related by Muslim.
– He also narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: “A man set out to visit a brother of his in another town, so Allah appointed an angel to wait for him on his path…”—the report continues until the angel says: “Indeed, Allah has loved you as you loved him for His sake.” Related by Muslim. It has already been cited in the chapter before (5).
