was darting around the dish; so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, “Young man, mention Allah’s name, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is directly in front of you.” Ever since then, that has remained my manner of eating(1). Agreed upon.
The word tatīshu means: it moves about around the sides of the dish.
305 – Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “Every one of you is a shepherd and every one of you will be held accountable for his flock. The ruler is a shepherd and will be held accountable for his flock; a man is a shepherd over the members of his household and will be held accountable for his flock; a woman is a shepherd in her husband’s house and will be held accountable for her flock; and a servant is a shepherd of his master’s wealth and will be held accountable for his flock. So every one of you is a shepherd and every one of you will be held accountable for his flock.” Agreed upon.
306 – ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb, from his father, from his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with him), narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Instruct your children to pray when they are seven years old; discipline them for it when they are ten; and separate them in their beds.” A sound hadith, related by Abū Dāwūd with a good chain.
307 – Abū Thurayyah(2) Sabrāh ibn Maʿbad al-Juhanī (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Teach the child the prayer at seven years of age, and discipline him for it at ten.” A sound hadith related by Abū Dāwūd and al-Tirmidhī, who said, “A sound hadith.”
The wording in Abū Dāwūd’s version is: “Command the child to pray when he reaches seven years of age.”
