— a corpulent, imposing man who will come on the Day of Resurrection yet, in Allah’s scale, will weigh no more than a mosquito’s wing.” Agreed upon.
261 – Also from him: A black woman (or it may have been a young man) used to sweep the mosque. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ missed her (or him) and asked about her. They said, “She has died.” He replied, “Why did you not inform me?” It was as though they regarded her matter as insignificant. He said, “Show me her grave.” They directed him to it, and he offered the funeral prayer over her. Then he said, “These graves are filled with darkness for their occupants, but Allah, Mighty and Exalted, illumines them for them through my prayer over them.” Agreed upon.
His word “taqummu” — with an open tāʾ and a ḍamma on the qāf — means “she sweeps.” “Qamāmah” denotes the sweepings. “Ādhantumūnī,” with a lengthened hamza, means “you informed me.”
262 – Also from him: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “It may be that a man, disheveled and dusty, who is turned away from doors, were he to swear by Allah, Allah would certainly fulfill his oath.” Narrated by Muslim.
263 – Usāmah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, “I stood at the gate of Paradise, and most of those who had entered it were the poor, while the people of wealth were detained — except that the inhabitants of Hell had already been ordered toward the Fire. Then I stood at the gate of the Fire, and most of those who entered it were women.” Agreed upon.
“Al-jadd” — with a fatḥa on the jīm — means good fortune and wealth. His saying “maḥbūsūn” means they have not yet been permitted to enter Paradise.
264 – Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Only three spoke while still in the cradle: Jesus son of Mary, the child connected to Jurayj, and Jurayj was a worshipful man who had built himself a hermitage. While he was in it, his mother came to him as he was praying and said, ‘Jurayj!’ He said, ‘My Lord, my mother or my prayer?’ and continued his prayer, so she went away.
