- Hadith 896: It contains the wording, “The Prophet ﷺ came toward him, his cloak trailing behind him, then embraced him and kissed him.” Reported by al-Tirmidhī, who said, “A good ḥadith.”
I reply: The chain rests on an ʿanʿanah by Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq, and he is a well-known mudallis.
- Hadith 1103: “Keep the imām in the middle and fill the gaps.” Reported by Abū Dāwūd.
I reply: Its isnād contains two unknown narrators, as I have explained in Ḍaʿīf Abī Dāwūd (105). The second half of the report, however, has a corroborating narration from Ibn ʿUmar, which the compiler classifies as authentic and will cite under no. 1098.
- Hadith 1028 – from Abū al-Dardāʾ: “Whoever memorises ten verses from the beginning—while another version says: from the end—of Sūrat al-Kahf …” Reported by Muslim.
I reply: The alternative version is anomalous (shādh); the preserved wording is the first, as I demonstrated in Silsilat al-Aḥādīth al-Ṣaḥīḥah (582). It is supported by the ḥadith of al-Nawwās ibn Samʿān that the compiler will quote under no. 1817, wherein it says, “Whoever among you encounters him should recite over him the opening verses of Sūrat al-Kahf.”
- Hadith 1128: “… such as praying two rakʿahs before ʿAṣr.” Reported by Abū Dāwūd with an authentic isnād.
I reply: The wording “two rakʿahs” is anomalous; the reliable wording is “four rakʿahs,” as clarified in Ḍaʿīf Abī Dāwūd, no. 235.
- Hadith 1101 – from ʿĀʾishah: “Indeed Allah and His angels send blessings upon the right-hand sides of the rows.” Reported by Abū Dāwūd with a chain that meets Muslim’s criteria, but it contains a narrator whose reliability is disputed.
