- The ruling on building mosques over graves.
- The ruling on performing the prayer in such mosques.
I have elected to examine these two issues because some people have ventured into them without knowledge, uttering claims that no scholar before them ever voiced—while the vast majority of people have absolutely no understanding of the subject. They are heedless of it, ignorant of the truth, and their ignorance is reinforced by the silence of the scholars—save those whom Allah wills, and they are but few—who remain quiet either out of fear of the populace or out of flattery, hoping thereby to preserve their standing in the people’s eyes. In so doing they forget the words of Allah, Blessed and Exalted be He:
“Indeed, those who conceal the clear proofs and guidance that We revealed after We had made them clear for mankind in the Book—those are cursed by Allah and cursed by all who curse.” (1)
And the saying of the Prophet ﷺ: “Whoever conceals knowledge, Allah will bridle him on the Day of Resurrection with a bridle of fire.” (2)
