14 – The Mothers of the Believers reported that the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “How should we construct the grave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? Shall we make it a mosque?” Abu Bakr al-Ṣiddīq replied, “I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, ‘May Allah curse the Jews and the Christians; they turned the graves of their prophets into places of worship.’” ⦗1⦘
‘Uthman ibn al-Yaman narrated to us: Abu Bakr ibn Abi ‘Awn said that he heard ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Isa ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, from his father, from his grandfather—or he said: from his father or from his grandfather—who said: I heard ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib say:
I (the author) add: This chain of transmission would be sound were it not for the fact that I am unfamiliar with this Abu Bakr, and he is not listed by al-Dulabi or Abu Ahmad al-Hakim in their works on kunya (patronymics).

١٤ - عن أمهات المؤمنين؛ أن أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ قالوا: كيف نبني قبر رسول الله ﷺ؟ أنجعله مسجداً؟ فقال أبو بكر الصديق: سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: «لعن الله اليهود والنصارى؛ اتخذوا قبور أنبيائهم مساجد»(١).

=عثمان بن اليمان نا أبو بكر ابن أبي عون أنه سمع عبد الله بن عيسى بن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى عن أبيه عن جده أو قال: عن أبيه، أو عن جده قال: سمعت علي بن أبي طالب يقول:
قلت: وهذا سند حسن لولا أنني لم أعرف أبا بكر هذا، ولم يورده الدولابي وأبو أحمد الحاكم في «الكنى»
