some knowledge concerning any aspect of this matter, let him kindly set it forth with proof; he will be thanked and—God willing—rewarded.
As for the opinion that praying in mosques erected over graves is merely disliked, this is the least that a careful researcher can say, for two reasons:
First: Performing the prayer there involves imitating the Jews and Christians, who have long—indeed still—seek to worship in buildings constructed over graves. (1)
Second: The prayer itself becomes a means that leads to exalting the person buried there with a veneration

“St Peter’s Basilica, the largest church of its kind in the Christian world, stands on a site dedicated to Christian worship for more than seventeen centuries. It rises over the very tomb of the saint himself—the fisherman, the disciple of Christ—and beneath its floor stretches a maze of ancient graves and Roman ruins.”
He then adds that on the major feast days nearly one hundred thousand people flock there for worship.
علم في شيء من ذلك، فليتفضل ببيانه مع الدليل مشكوراً
مأجوراً.
وأما القول بكراهة الصلاة في المساجد المبنية على القبور،
فهذا أقل ما يمكن أن يقوله الباحث، وذلك لأمرين:
الأول: أن في الصلاة فيها تشبهُا باليهود والنصارى الذين
كانوا ولا يزالون يقصدون التعبد في تلك المساجد المبنية على
القبور! (١)
الثاني: أن الصلاة فيها ذريعة لتعظيم المقبور فيها تعظيماً

تقوم على ساحة مكرّسة للعبادة المسيحية منذ أكثر من من سبعة عشر قرناً،
إنها قائمة على قبر القديس نفسه: صياد السمك، حواري المسيح، وتحت
أرضيتها يقع تيه من المقابر الأثرية، والخرائب الرومانية القديمة».
ثم ذكر أنه يقصدها نحو مائة ألف شخص في أيام الأعياد الكبيرة للعبادة!
