He—the son of ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib—went on to say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ declared: “Do not turn my dwelling into a festival, and do not make your homes into graveyards. Rather, invoke blessings upon me wherever you may be, for your prayers reach me.” ⦗1⦘
10 – Abū Hurayrah reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Do not turn your houses into graveyards, and do not make my grave a festival. Send blessings upon me, for your blessings reach me ⦗2⦘ wherever you are.” ⦗3⦘
(1) I say: 'Abd al-Razzaq also recorded it in his Musannaf (3/577/6694). Suhayl is listed by Ibn Abi Hatim in al-Jarh wa-l-Ta'dil (2/1/24), who names two transmitters from him: Muhammad b. 'Ajlan—the one who narrates this report from him in Ibn Abi Shaybah—and Sufyan al-Thawri. Ibn Abi Hatim passes no judgment on him. A third transmitter is Isma'il, the narrator of this report from him in Ibn Khuzaymah, namely Isma'il b. 'Ulayyah. This rare detail is absent from most biographical works: three reliable narrators transmitted from him, so he is known, not obscure. Allah knows best.
(2) The wording "that reaches me" in this hadith and the preceding ones is a clear proof that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, does not hear the prayers of those who invoke blessings upon him. Whoever claims that he does is attributing falsehood to him—so what of the one who claims that he hears other things?

ابن علي بن أبي طالب فقال قال رسول الله ﷺ: لا تتخذوا
بيتي عيداً ولا تتخذوا بيوتكم مقابر، [وصلوا علي حيثما
كنتم، فإن صلاتكم تبلغني] (١).
١٠ - عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: «لا تجعلوا
بيوتكم قبوراً، ولا تجعلوا قبري عيداً وصلوا علي، فإن
صلاتكم تبلغني (٢) حيثما كنتم» (٣).

وسهيل هذا أورده ابن أبي حاتم في «الجرح والتعديل» (٢/١/٢٤) وذكر له
عنه راويين أحدهما محمد بن عجلان وهو الراوي لهذا الحديث عنه عند ابن
أبي شيبة، والآخر سفيان الثوري ولم يذكر فيه جرحاً ولا تعديلاً، وله راو
ثالث وهو إسماعيل الراوي لهذا عنه عند ابن خزيمة وهو إسماعيل بن عليه
وهذه فائدة عزيزة لا تجدها في كتب الرجال فقد روى عنه ثلاثة من الثقات،
فهو معروف غير مجهول. والله أعلم.
(٢) قوله «تبلغني» هذا الحديث وغيره مما تقدم صريح في أنه عليه الصلاة
والسلام لا يسمع صلاة المصلين عليه، فمن زعم أن النبي ﷺ يسمعها فقد
كذب عليه، فكيف حال من يزعم أنه ﷺ يسمع غيرها؟!
