will come to his Pond in the Hereafter, whereas anyone who does not adhere to his revealed law will be barred from it in the Hereafter.
Among the abundant blessings granted to the Prophet—may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him and his family—in this world is what is authentically reported in the two Sahih collections from Jābir—may Allah be pleased with him—that the Prophet—may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him and his family—said: “I was granted five things that no prophet before me was granted: I was aided by fear from a month’s journey away; the earth was made for me a place of prayer and a means of purification, so wherever prayer overtakes any man of my nation, let him pray; I was granted intercession; the spoils of war were made lawful to me; and whereas a prophet used to be sent exclusively to his own people, I was sent to all mankind.” (1)
This is part of that abundant goodness, for his being sent to all mankind necessarily means that he has more followers than any other prophet—and indeed, he—may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him and his family—has the greatest number of followers. It is well known that one who directs others to goodness is like one who performs it. The one who guided this tremendous nation—which surpassed all other nations in number—to goodness was Muhammad—may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him and his family. Accordingly, the Messenger—may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him and his family—will receive a share of the reward of every member of his nation. No one can number this nation except Allah, Glorious and Exalted.
Among the blessings granted to him in the Hereafter is the Praiseworthy Station, which includes the Great Intercession. On the Day of Resurrection, people will suffer distress and anguish beyond their endurance and will seek intercession. They will go to Adam, then Noah, then Abraham, then Moses, and then Jesus—may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon them—until they finally come to the Prophet—may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him and his family. He will then rise and intercede, and Allah Most High will judge between His servants through his intercession. (2) This is a station for which all those of earlier and later generations will praise him, and it is included in the words of Allah Most High: ﴿Perhaps your Lord will raise you to a Praiseworthy Station﴾ [al-Isrā: 79].
Thus, al-Kawthar means abundant goodness, including the river in Paradise. There is no doubt that the river in Paradise is al-Kawthar and is called by that name, but it is not the only thing granted
