besides Allah, together with all rulers, all leaders, and all engineers, to create a single fly, they would be utterly unable to do so. In our own age, despite the tremendous advances in industry, if all these created beings gathered together to create a fly, they still could not do so. Even if they were to make what they call a humanoid robot, they could not create a fly. Such a robot is nothing but machinery in motion: it neither hungers nor thirsts, feels neither heat nor cold, and moves only when made to move. No one besides Allah can create a fly. Allah—Glorious and Exalted is He—alone is the Creator. And how does He create? With a single word:
﴾Indeed, the likeness of Jesus before Allah is that of Adam: He created him from dust, then said to him, “Be,” and he was﴿ [Āl Imrān: 59].
﴾His command, when He wills something, is only to say to it, “Be,” and it is﴿ [Yā Sīn: 82].
A single word. All created beings die and perish; the earth consumes them, beasts devour them, and fires burn them. Then, when the Day of Resurrection comes, Allah will call them forth with a single cry: “Come forth!” and they will emerge.
﴾It will be only one blast, and at once they will be upon the earth’s surface﴿ [al-Nāziāt: 13].
﴾It will be but one blast, and at once they will all be brought before Us﴿ [Yā Sīn: 53].
The whole world—humans, jinn, wild beasts, insects, and all else—will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection by a single word. Thus, Allah—Mighty and Majestic is He—alone is the Creator, and no one shares in creation with Him. Creation neither taxes Him nor lies beyond His power; it is easy for Him and takes place by a single word.
His words, ﴾and proportioned﴿, mean that He fashioned what He created in the finest and most harmonious form. Regarding the human being, for example, Allah Most High says in Surah al-Infitār:
﴾Who created you, fashioned you, and proportioned you, forming you in whatever shape He willed﴿ [al-Infitār: 7, 8].
﴾Indeed, We created the human being in the finest form﴿ [al-Tīn: 4].
Nothing in creation is more beautiful in form than the human being: his head is at the top, his heart is in his chest, and his form is complete. For this reason, the human being is foremost among those included in His words:
