Description of the Manuscript Copy
Provenance: The National Library of Tunisia.
Shelf-mark: 23837, contained within a composite volume.
Scribe: Not identified.
Date of copying: Not indicated. It is likely that the copyist was one of the author’s own students and that he transcribed it shortly after the author’s death, for he refers to him as “my shaykh” and prays that Allah illuminate his grave. This circumstance supports the above supposition—Allah knows best.
Extent: 100 folios.
General description: The text is written in a generally clear, legible hand, though it is not without the shortcomings noted earlier. The copy bears a number of corrections and collations, and its margins contain notes in a Maghribi script that draw attention to particular points: sometimes by citing the heading of a section, and at other times with brief remarks such as “qif waʿrif” (“pause and take note”) or simply “qif” (“pause”).
