and the prohibition of killing them merely because of their unbelief.

In conclusion, I thank Allah—the Bestower of every good—then I thank all those who assisted me in studying and editing this brief treatise, especially the brothers who, despite their many obligations, devoted a generous portion of their time to read it and offer their observations.

I pray that Allah has granted me success in the research and reflection I have undertaken on this work. In truth, it is no more than the humble effort of one who falls short. If I have been correct, it is solely by Allah’s favor; if I have erred, the fault lies with me and with Satan, and Allah and His Messenger are free of it. All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
