at ʿArafah or in Mina (1) is likewise an innovation (2).

They then proceed (3) from there to Namirah (4) along the Ḍabb route (5), keeping to the right side of the road. Namirah was formerly a village (6) lying outside (7) ʿArafah on the Yemeni side (8). They remain there until the sun passes its zenith, following the practice of the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—then set off from there to the floor of the valley (9), the very spot where the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—performed the Dhuhr prayer.

…—the phrase “only at Muzdalifah” appears in manuscript (B) as: “and the sunnah is not to kindle fires at Muzdalifah.” (1) Manuscripts (C) and (D) read: “at Mina or Arafah.” (2) The word “also” is missing from manuscripts (A) and (B). (3) Manuscript (B) reads: “and he travels.” (4) Namirah—nun with fatḥa, mim with kasra, followed by ra—is a locality at Arafah; see al-Mutaliʿ, p. 232. (5) Al-Azraqi reports in Taʾrikh Makka (2/193): “Dabb is a short route from Muzdalifah to Arafah, at the foot of the Maʾzamain on your right as you head to Arafah. Some Meccans related that the Prophet, peace be upon him, took this path when he left Mina for Arafah.” (6) Manuscript (B) adds: “It was a village.” (7) Manuscript (B) reads: “from.” (8) Manuscripts (B), (C) and (D) read: “the right.” The adopted reading is preferred. Muʿjam al-Buldan 1/135 states: “It is said that Wadi al-Arak is a place within Namirah, itself a site in Arafah called Namirah; it is treated under its own entry. Others say it is one of the standing places of Arafah, partly toward Syria and partly toward Yemen.” (9) Shaykh al-Islam held that the time for standing at Arafah begins after the sun’s zenith, contrary to the official school position; see al-Insaf 4/29.
