They will then call upon their Lord and say, “Our Lord, our wretchedness overwhelmed us and we were a people astray. Our Lord, bring us out of this; and if we should relapse, then indeed we would be wrongdoers.” ⦗Al-Muʾminūn: 106–107⦘

Allah will answer them, “Remain despised therein, and never address Me again.” ⦗Al-Muʾminūn: 108⦘

At that moment they will despair of every trace of goodness, of every hope for relief or comfort, and they will be certain that what awaits them is unending confinement, everlasting punishment, and relentless misery.

So we ask Allah for Paradise and for every word and deed that draws us near to it, and we seek His protection from the Fire and from every word and deed that draws us near to it.
