The elite who embody this quality are the ṣiddīqūn (the ever-truthful), beyond whom no rank is higher after prophethood. Allah, Exalted is He, says: “And those who believe in Allah and His messengers—such are the ṣiddīqūn” (al-Ḥadīd 57:19); what is intended here is perfect, all-encompassing faith. The Prophet ﷺ illustrated this when he spoke to his Companions about the lofty chambers whose height, elevation, and radiance will be visible to the people of Paradise like a brilliant star in the eastern or western horizon. They said, “Messenger of Allah, those must be the dwellings of the prophets; no one else will attain them, will they?” He replied, “Indeed—by Him in whose hand is my soul—men who believed in Allah and affirmed the messengers will also reach them” (1).
These are the rightly guided leaders, as the Most High said: “And We appointed from among them leaders guiding by Our command when they persevered and were certain of Our signs” (as-Sajdah 32:24).
Ṣiddīqiyyah is like a tree:
• Its root: sound knowledge and the Salafi creeds derived from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger.
• Its trunk and life-force: complete sincerity to Allah, constantly turning back to Him in every circumstance—out of hope and fear, love and veneration, submission and humble surrender.
• Its fruits: noble character, upright speech, righteous deeds, excellence in worshipping the Creator, benevolence to the creation in every form, and striving against every category of deviant people.
In essence, it is the full establishment of the religion—outwardly and inwardly, in one’s state and in one’s call to Allah. Allah alone grants success; He is the Helper of all who sincerely seek His aid.
