– They are reminded of the Days of Allah, both what lies ahead of them and what lies behind them—the decisive events by which He dealt with earlier nations that belied the messengers and denied pure monotheism.
– They are reminded of the beauties, benefits, and advantages—spiritual and worldly—contained in faith in Allah, in worshipping Him alone, and in following His religion: blessings that attract hearts and smooth the way to every noble goal.
– Alongside all of this, people must be shown kindness and goodwill. At the very least one must endure their harm, bear what issues from them, address them gently, follow every course of wisdom with them, and move with them step by step—accepting from them whatever portion their souls are presently willing to offer so that they may be gently led to its complete fulfillment—always beginning with what is most important, then what comes next.
The one who embodied these duties more perfectly than anyone else—indeed, their master, the Seal of them all, and the unrivaled leader of creation—is Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.
