Taysir al-Latif al-Mannan fi Khulasat Tafsir al-QuranAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

provides a concession, reducing the obligatory duties according to what the circumstance requires. Included here are every dispensation that allows one to break the fast, the relaxations granted to travellers, and the recognized excuses for missing the Friday prayer or the other congregational prayers.

  • His words, “and so that you may complete the number” (Qur’an 2:185) were revealed lest anyone imagine that fasting part of Ramadan would suffice to achieve the intended goal; He dismissed this notion by saying, “and so that you may complete the number.”
  • He then commanded gratitude for having enabled them to complete it, for one of Allah’s greatest favors to a servant is granting him success to bring an act to perfection and clarifying its rulings for His slaves.
  • “And so that you may magnify Allah for having guided you”—guidance through instruction as well as guidance through success and direction.
