Preface
All praise belongs to Allah, and may blessings and peace be upon our Prophet and beloved Muhammad, upon his family and Companions, and upon all who trace his footsteps, follow his guidance, and live by his Sunnah. To proceed:
Allah sent Muhammad ﷺ with guidance and the religion of truth as a mercy to all creation. He revealed to him a clear Book and commanded us to recite it, reflect upon its verses, learn its rulings, and distinguish its lawful from its unlawful. The Exalted says, “Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital” [al-Baqarah: 121], and He also says, “Do they not then reflect upon the Quran?” [al-Nisaʾ: 82]. The noble Prophet ﷺ said, “The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it” (1).
Scholars of every age have hastened to study and explain the Book of Allah—clarifying its wording and meanings, deriving its rulings and objectives—and they have produced many blessed and monumental commentaries. Among these leading scholars is the eminent Shaykh ʿAbd al-Rahman b. Nasir b. ʿAbd Allah al-Saʿdi (d. 1376 AH), may Allah have mercy on him, who authored the work entitled Taysir al-Karim al-Rahman fi Tafsir Kalam al-Mannan. With this book he made tafsir accessible to the Muslim community through a simple style, clear phrasing, and sound creed. Allah granted the work acceptance and wide circulation, so that it has become one of the most frequently printed and distributed Quranic commentaries of our time.
