Ṣuwar min Ḥayāt al-ṢaḥābiyyātAbd al-Rahman Ra'fat al-Basha

So the Muslims set off at a rapid pace to confront him, and in their ranks was the fearless warrior Umm ʿUmārah—Nusaybah—together with her son ʿAbd Allah ibn Zayd.

When the two armies met and the battle raged (1), a group of believers lay in ambush for Musaylimah, at their head Umm ʿUmārah, determined to avenge her martyred son …

Among them too was Wahshi ibn Harb (2), the man who had slain Hamzah on the day of ʿUhud:
he now wanted to kill the vilest of people as a believer,
after once having killed one of the noblest of people while he was still a polytheist.

Umm ʿUmārah, however, could not reach Musaylimah, for her hand had been severed in the course of the fighting

(1) al-Wutais: the oven (tanur); it is also said that the term hami al-Wutais al-ma'raka (battle heat) refers to that which burst into flame and intensified. (2) Wahshi ibn Harb: see the entry in the book 'Suwar min Hayat al-Sahaba' by the author, published by Dar al-Adab al-Islami, the approved edition.
