every morning. As soon as the adhān for the dawn prayer was given, he would grasp the two door-posts of her house and say, “Peace be upon you, people of the Household. May Allah purify you completely.”
When the Prophet ﷺ returned from a journey, he would begin by entering the mosque, where he performed two rakʿahs, after which he would go straight to Fāṭimah’s house and remain with her for some time before visiting the apartments of his wives.
It is reported from Muḥammad ibn Qays that on one occasion the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out on a journey with ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib. During their absence Fāṭimah, may Allah be pleased with her, fashioned a pair of bracelets, a necklace, and two earrings, and she hung a curtain over the doorway in preparation for the arrival of her father and her husband.
When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned, he entered her house while his Companions waited at the door, unsure whether to stay or leave because he remained inside for so long. He then emerged, anger plainly visible on his face, and made his way to the pulpit.
