One morning he went out with his foster brother, taking a few of our young goats to graze behind the houses. Not long had passed when his brother came running toward us and cried, “Quick—come to my Qurayshi brother! Two men in white garments have seized him, laid him down… and split open his belly…!”
My husband and I rushed toward the boy and found him pale (1) and trembling. My husband gathered him up, and I pressed him to my breast.
I asked, “What happened to you, my son?!”
He said, “Two men in white clothing came to me, laid me down, split open my belly, and searched inside for something—I do not know what—then left me and went away.”
We brought the boy back with us, shaken and afraid.
(1) His face turned pale; that is, its color changed.
