(1) In the margin of the last folio of the base manuscript we find: “This copy was taken from the author’s own handwriting and has been collated against it, as far as possible, from beginning to end. Allah—exalted is He—knows best. Written by Ibrahim b. Ahmad al-Labdi al-Hanbali; may he be pardoned. Amin.” The other copies add: – At the end of copy (A): “The book was brought to completion—by Allah’s praise, help, and gracious success—on the blessed Wednesday forenoon, the nineteenth of Dhu al-Hijjah, the final month of the year 1142 of the Hijrah of the Prophet, upon whom be the best of blessings and peace. Copied by the poorest of servants and the one most in need of his Lord’s pardon, Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Ali al-Qaytuni al-Shafi‘i; may Allah forgive his sins, conceal his faults by His bounty and generosity, and forgive all Muslims. Amin, amin.” – At the end of copy (C): “The copying was completed on the blessed Friday, the seventeenth of Safar in the year 1093 AH. Praise be to Allah.” *** I say: By Allah’s grace and assistance, I completed the critical verification of this blessed book on Friday, 26 Dhu al-Qa‘dah 1430 AH, corresponding to 13 November 2009 CE.
