• The number of typographical mistakes in these two editions is exceedingly high; indeed, were I to say that not a single chapter is free of misprints and corrupted readings, I would not be exaggerating.
• Headings have been inserted for many of the book’s sections and chapters. These headings are not the work of the original author; rather, the two editors lifted them from the commentary Hidayat al-Raghib without indicating this fact, nor did they place them in brackets.
• A blatant error appears even in the title of the book as issued by Maktabat al-Asadi, for the cover reads: ʿUmdat al-Talib fi Sharh Nayl al-Maʾarib (The Student’s Reliance in Explaining “The Attainment of Objectives”). I have no idea where this title came from?!

These and similar mistakes and observations make the need for a new critical edition urgent. We ask Allah for help and success.
