In another wording recorded by both al-Bukhārī and Muslim: “And two rakʿahs after Jumuʿah in his house.” ⦗1⦘

Glossary of ḥadith 286:
– yadaʿ (he omits): From wadaʿtuhu adaʿu wadʿan, “I left it.” The present-tense form originally carries a kasrah; the initial wāw was then dropped, and the vowel opened to fatḥa because of the following guttural consonant. Its past tense, verbal noun, and active participle are rarely used—so rare that some scholars claimed the Arabs had virtually abandoned them—though the forms do surface in a few expressions.
