Al-Bayhaqī (2/223) remarked, “This mursal report is preferable to me over the two connected chains that have been narrated on the matter.”
10 – The Prophet ﷺ said, “During prostration, intensify your supplications, for it is most likely that they will be answered.” [Muslim 479] The directive to increase supplication in sujūd covers both asking abundantly for every need and repeating the same request again and again, for the worshipper has now humbled himself before his Lord and placed the noblest part of his body upon the ground.
11 – Is it better to lengthen the prostration or the standing?
Shaykh al-Islām judged that they are equivalent: standing (qiyām) is superior because of the remembrance it contains—namely the Qur’an recitation—while prostration is superior due to its posture. Hence, when the Prophet ﷺ lengthened the standing, he would likewise lengthen the bowing (rukūʿ) and the prostration, and when he shortened the standing, he would shorten the bowing and the prostration as well.
