while pronouncing it with a doubled mīm is an anomalous and rejected form—merely a popular mispronunciation—and it is deemed incorrect by all four schools of law.
The word Āmīn is classed among the asmāʾ al-afʿāl, the “verb-nouns,” like ṣh, meaning “be silent,” and mah, meaning “desist.” According to the majority, its sense is, “O Allah, answer (our supplication).” When it occurs within connected speech its final vowel is read with fatḥ, for the word is indeclinable by agreement, just like kayfa (“how”); it is not given kasrah, because placing a kasrah after the yāʾ would be phonetically cumbersome.

وكلمة "آمين" من أسماء الأفعال؛ مثل: "صه" للسكوت، و"مه" يعني: اكفف، ومعناها: اللَّهمَّ استجيب، عند الجمهور، وتفتح في الوصل؛ لأنَّها مبنية بالاتفاق؛ مثل "كيف"، وإنَّما لم تكسر؛ لثقل الكسرة بعد الياء.
