Grade of the hadith:
The hadith is ṣaḥīḥ. It was also transmitted by Aḥmad (11790), Abū Dāwūd (521), and al-Tirmidhī (212), who classed it as sound; Ibn Ḥibbān (4/594) and al-Ḍiyāʾ likewise authenticated it. Al-Albānī remarked: “Its chain contains Zayd al-ʿAmmī, who is weak, yet the report comes through another sound route whose narrators are all trustworthy.”
Points derived from the hadith:
1 – Supplication made between the adhān and the iqāmah is not rejected by Allah; rather, He accepts it out of His bounty and generosity.
2 – It is recommended to make duʿāʾ during this interval and to seize this divine breeze of mercy and lordly favor.
3 – The likely reason for the acceptance of supplication at this blessed time is that the person waiting for the prayer is considered, in Allah’s sight, to be in prayer, and petitions made during the prayer are not refused. Al-Bukhārī (647) and Muslim (362) relate from Abū Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Each of you remains in prayer so long as the prayer restrains him; nothing keeps him from returning to his family but the prayer.”
4 – It is therefore recommended to arrive early at the mosque so as to obtain this interval and apply oneself therein.
5 – Other reports restrict this promise of acceptance when the supplication does not involve sin or the severing of family ties, for such requests constitute aggression in
