and as long as his lips continue to utter that remembrance and to move in glorifying Him.
– Hadith no. 1345 indicates that the safest deed by which a servant can secure deliverance from Allah’s punishment is the remembrance of Allah; it is complete protection and an impregnable fortress against the torment of the Day of Resurrection. Persistent remembrance of Allah is a guarantee of safety from His punishment and a shield against His wrath and retribution.
– Hadith no. 1346 highlights the merit of gatherings devoted to remembrance. Such assemblies are encircled and attended by the angels, who come pleased with them and loving their participants in order to report the gathering to their Lord—though He knows it better than they. Allah then mentions them before those who are with Him in the highest company, boasts of them to His angels, and has the angels bear witness that He has forgiven His servants, granted them the favour they sought of His good pleasure, delivered them from the punishment they feared, and bestowed upon them the Garden they hoped for.
– Hadith no. 1347 points to the regret and loss awaiting people who sit together and then disperse without letting their hearts or tongues remember Allah, mention His Messenger, or send blessings upon him. Gatherings devoid of Allah’s remembrance and of prayers for His Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him) will become a grievous source of remorse for them on the Day of Resurrection, for they squandered the gathering and gained nothing from it. This is if the sitting was, in itself, permissible and free of backbiting, insulting, cursing, or other unlawful speech. If, however, it was an assembly of sin and frivolity, the calamity awaiting its participants is far greater.
– Allah’s accompaniment (maʿiyyah) of His creation is of two kinds: general and specific. The general accompaniment consists of His all-encompassing knowledge, oversight, surveillance, and awareness, and this applies to every creature. The specific accompaniment is His support, protection, and assistance, and it is reserved for His believing servants.
