and the bath itself, for it brings about complete cleanliness and perfect purification.

15 – Among the divinely inspired wisdoms behind the Prophet’s having several wives is that they transmitted a great deal of legal knowledge—especially rulings connected to domestic life—that benefited the entire Muslim community. Each of them preserved and reported matters that the others did not normally memorize or relate.

16 – Ibn al-Mulaqqin stated that running the fingers through the hair (takhlil) yields three benefits:
(a) It makes it easier for the water to reach both the hair and the scalp;
(b) It ensures direct contact with the hair so that the water is spread evenly over it;
(c) It moistens the scalp beforehand, lest pouring the water all at once cause a sudden pain in the head.
