He ﷺ also said, “The best of you are those who are best in character” (al-Bukhārī 6035; Muslim 2321).

He likewise said, “By virtue of his good character, a believer attains the rank of one who fasts by day and stands in prayer by night” (reported by Abū Dāwūd 4798).

Good character, then, is pure happiness, prosperity, and success in all the affairs of this world and the Hereafter.

2 – As for bad character, it is a torment for its possessor and for everyone around him—family, friends, clients, and colleagues. His ill disposition is an evil omen upon him: he is detested, disliked, burdensome, and loathsome to all; society casts him off. The harms that stem from his bad character rebound upon him in both his worldly life and his afterlife.
