The Prophet ﷺ also described jihad as the summit of Islam, saying: “The highest peak of its hump is striving in the path of Allah.”
The fruit of jihad is to bring people out of the darkness of disbelief and ignorance into the light of Islam and knowledge. The Prophet ﷺ said: “If Allah guides one man through you, it is better for you than red camels.” Recorded by al-Bukhari (3009) and Muslim (2406).
Red camels, with the m pronounced silent, were the most prized camels; the term is proverbial for everything precious.
Third rank: the emancipation of slaves. It occupies the third position among the great rites of Islam, and its virtue has already been noted.
7 – The most excellent slaves to free are those with the highest market price, for a high price indicates the benefit and usefulness found in the one liberated. Allah the Exalted says: “You will never attain righteousness until you spend of that which you love.” ⦗Āl ʿImrān 92⦘.
When a slave is dear and valuable to his owners, it becomes evident that the master would not emancipate him except in preference for reward and for what lies with Allah over his own need and desire. This is unlike freeing someone who is incapacitated, elderly, weak, or inept; such a person is not valuable, and the motive behind his emancipation may be merely to escape the burden of his upkeep and expenses—not to seek what is with Allah the Most High. Moreover, the incapacitated person will become dependent on, and a burden to, his community. Actions are judged by their intentions, and each person shall have only what he intended!!
