The Prophet ﷺ thereupon rebuked this attitude of helplessness, saying, “Rather, you must act with foresight; but if some matter prevails over you, then say, ‘Allah is sufficient for me, and He is the best Trustee.’”
The purport is that a person must stay alert and make use of the proper, beneficial means. If, after employing the lawful means, he still fails, only then should he say, “Allah is sufficient for me, and He is the best Trustee.”
If one shows no vigilance or makes no effort, Allah condemns such incapacity and negligence in one’s affairs.
