Imam Ahmad (26532) has narrated—from Umm Bilāl bint Hilāl, on the authority of her father—that the Prophet ﷺ said: “Sacrifice a jadhaʿah of sheep.”
4 – The thanī of livestock is the animal whose flesh has moved beyond the stage of softness and looseness but has not yet become tough and sinewy; at that age its meat is at its best, tastiest, and most beneficial. For this reason the Prophet ﷺ advised it.
5 – If a musinnah cannot be found, one may resort to a jadhaʿah of sheep, for among sacrificial animals it grows the fastest and has the finest meat.
