18 – This shows that it is recommended to supplicate for the acceptance of the uḍḥiyah and every other act of obedience. Allah has commanded us to call upon Him and has promised a response, and He never breaks His promise. He says: “And your Lord said, ‘Call upon Me and I will answer you’” (Ghafir 60).
19 – His words, “from Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,” demonstrate that a single uḍḥiyah suffices for a man and the members of his household, and that they all share in its reward. Mālik reports in the Muwaṭṭaʾ (1050) with an authentic chain—and al-Tirmidhī (1505) graded it sound—from Abū Ayyūb who said: “In the Prophet’s ﷺ time a man would offer one sheep for himself and for his household; they would eat from it and feed others.”
